My husband and I took this Yosemite day trip from San Francisco in the first week of July. Originally, we had booked with Best Bay Tours, but was called the evening before with news that they could not go as planned and put us on another tour with their partner company, Extranomical. We weren't too happy about that situation, as the tour we had booked and spent a significant amount of money on was supposed to be with a small group. But I'm not here to review them (I already did that through their survey). I wanted to leave a raving review for our supremely awesome tour guide DENISE!!! She completely redeemed what could have been an extremely disappointing day for us. I can't say enough about her - from her wealth of knowledge of the area as a born-and-bred Bay native, her no-nonsense personality stemming from being a school bus driver and a daughter from a family of truckers, her every attempt at making this the BEST tour ever, and the above and beyond service she provided (taking pictures for any of her group members at the scenic stop, bonus stop at Treasure Island for a view of nighttime SF cityscape, and giving personal pointers on where to go for our next day in Napa Valley)! Thanks Denise for such a memorable tour!

I felt so lucky the tour went well though the Ferguson Fire was happened weeks ago. We have great weather and the air quality is pretty good at 59. Our tour guide and driver Roman has picked us up at the hotel at 6:20. About an hour and a half drive we had stopped at the Central Valley for a quick break. Roman has recommended us to pick up the supply like water and lunch at the supermarket. Then another 90 mins. drive to our first tour spot to see the giant sequoia. In order to ensure all the tour members come back on time, Roman has given us very clear instruction the way to see the sequoia. Then we have another 1 hour drive to the Yosemite Valley, where Roman has shared his secret paradise so that we can sit back and relax by the river, dipping into the icy cold water and enjoyed our lunch. Since we don't see a lots of other tours due to the fire and the traffic was good, we were able to spent about two hours relaxing at the Valley before we head back to the San Francisco. Overall it was a great experience and our tour guide Roman is full of humors, I enjoy the trip very much.

We booked this tour weeks in advance and confirmed with them a few days before our tour knowing about the fires in Yosemite. The night before they called and emailed to say that due to fires we wouldn't be going to the Valley and they rearranged our itinerary. At that point we were not given the option to cancel anymore and when we asked to speak to the manager we were told that it was too late (9:30p). If it was too late to speak to the manager then it should have been too late to call the customer last minute to inform them of the changes without other options. By the way, the manager (or anyone else) never called us back in the morning as promised. We also sent texts and emails but never received a response. We ended up showing up for the tour at 6am since we are a family of 5 and had already planned for this tour. Bus seats recline but not super comfortable, a lot of the phone chargers at each seat were not working, and most cup holders were broken. While I understand there was a natural disaster which can not be planned for and visibility is not something that the company can control, the company should not have charged the fee it did for the type of trip it was. They should have much better customer service The bus driver even said "I guess we'll see what we see". He didn't know what to tell us. The sequoias at the end were beautiful but we were told we would get more time (due to the decreased time in other areas) and ended up being rushed to do the trail. It has been about 5 days and we still haven't heard back from anyone.

Weston, Yes, the fires caught us all by surprise. We tried hard to reach all guests about our revised itinerary that visited the less impacted areas like Tenaya Lake, Tuolumne Meadow and other beautiful spots in the northern regions of Yosemite National Park. Conditions are difficult to predict at times like we have experienced in Yosemite recently, but we've done the best we can to deliver theā€‹ best experience possible for guests who have traveled so far. Apologies for the disappointing experience. Please email [email protected], and we'll try to make things right.
