Dans les coulisses de la visite à pied des crevettes de Shem Creek

Aperçu
This walking tour led by Captain Bryan is not your average "sit there and shut up" tour where the guide won't even remember you. Rather, after brief introduction, Captain Bryan will lead you on a historic journey of how Shem Creek came to prominence with its famous shrimping fleet and much more. Unlike any other tour in the area, guest have the ability to see the industry at work. Perhaps the group will meet Mr. Rector at Geechie Seafood with his several shrimp boats, beautiful reminders of the bountiful harvest to be conducted offshore. This is not a tour, it is an experience to immerse yourself in the Shem Culture. Take back history, culture, language, snacks, but most of all guests will take from this experience an underlying appreciation for our local shrimpers and the history behind these hard working men and women.

Captain Bryan was an excellent guide on our tour. He had stories to tell about the history of Shem Creek, kept the actual history interesting, and was friendly and engaging with those of us on the tour. We visited the Greenich Village area of ShemCreek, had delicious key lime pie at the fish house, walked the boardwalk along the shore where Capain Bryan enetertained us us with throwing a cast net to catch bait shrimp and lifted his crab trap to show us a large blue crab that he put to sleep on the dock by closing its eyes and rubbing its back! I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to do something a little different when visiting Charleston.

It was all terrific! History, shrimping, cast fishing, crabbing, and mouth watering key lime pies. We really enjoyed Bryan and appreciated his wealth of knowledge in a wide variety of areas. We’d give him two thumbs up and an excellent rating!!

Brian, tour guide, was outstanding! Extensive knowledge of area, history, and dynamic/enthusiastic narrator as we traversed through the historical area of Mt. Pleasant including beautiful views, and finished tour at Shem Creek with instructions on shrimp net casting! Delightful tour ... highly recommend!! Seeing the local shrimp markets cool, too!!
