This walking tour led by Captain Bryan is not your average "sit there and shut up" tour where the guide won't even remember you. Rather, after brief introduction, Captain Bryan will lead you on a historic journey of how Shem Creek came to prominence with its famous shrimping fleet and much more. Unlike any other tour in the area, guest have the ability to see the industry at work. Perhaps the group will meet Mr. Rector at Geechie Seafood with his several shrimp boats, beautiful reminders of the bountiful harvest to be conducted offshore. This is not a tour, it is an experience to immerse yourself in the Shem Culture. Take back history, culture, language, snacks, but most of all guests will take from this experience an underlying appreciation for our local shrimpers and the history behind these hard working men and women.

Bryan was amazing and was super informative. He gave us a very informative tour of the area. For the first hour or so he took us through some of the history places in the neighborhood then we shifted to the local shops with fresh shrimp and fish. We got to try one of the most amazing Key Lime Pies we've ever had and then we went on the dock to try our hand at catching something with his guidance. Overall one of the best tours we've ever had. He even gave us a very extensive list of restaurants and places to try out in the area.

The Shem Creek Tour with Captain Bryan was such a great way for our family to spend a morning on Shem Creek. The tour was perfectly paced to see many of the sights of Shem Creek and Old Village in Mt. Pleasant. We enjoyed the beautiful sights and history while walking through Old Village, and then we loved visiting the mainstays of the seafood industry on Shem Creek, seeing the shrimp boats, and getting to check a crab trap and the chance to throw a cast net. Captain Bryan was very knowledgeable and hospitable. Highly recommend this tour for anyone who is looking for a unique way to explore Shem Creek and Old Village.

I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone looking for an informative walking tour learning part of the history of Shem Creek. Brian, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and and fun to be around. This tour includes alot of i threshing info on shrimp and other aspects of Shem Creek.
