We booked Big Bus Tours as a way of seeing the sights of NYC and also as my dad suffers with chronic knee pain, we thought this would be a great mode of transport. However, there were multiple factors that caused great disappointment and we will never be using Big Bus Tours again. The amount charged for the tickets is completely unjustifiable considering the unreliability of the buses and attitude of staff. After visiting the 9/11 memorial, we were left waiting 45 minutes for the bus to arrive. There were so many people waiting which meant that when the bus finally arrived, there was no space to get on. We walked to the next stop in the hope there would be less people and when the bus finally arrived, we were met by a unfriendly driver for a second time that day. Both drivers we encountered had a real attitude and the tone they spoke to customers in was completely unnecessary. Further to this, we were never able to sit upstairs to view the sights of NYC. We would have been better of using a regular bus or the tube. When we needed to get off the bus, we pressed for our stop. However, the driver refused to stop, stating he would stop further up. This meant we eventually got off the bus approximately half a mile further than our stop. By this point, my dad was in agony with his knees and having to walk even further than what we thought, exacerbated the pain even more. Using Big Bus Tours was a complete waste of money and time. We were left feeling exhausted and frustrated by the amount of time spent waiting for the bus and we barely got our use out of it. When booking Big Bus Tours, it should not state that buses are every 15 minutes as this is simply not the case. What a completely unpredictable, unfriendly and unnecessary service.
