We have some experience kayaking with our children but I was a bit concerned that we would have to paddle solo, each of us with one kiddo in the front seat of our kayak while everyone else was paddling with a partner. The people I spoke to at outfitters were very encouraging, and I ended up keeping pace with the group. There was a team that had to get in with the guides on our tour. The hike is very manageable, our 2-year-old has done lots of different kinds of trails and he managed on his own feet with a helping hand here and there. Our 5-year-old did the rope swing; she is a competent swimmer, but I had her wear her life jacket (we brought our own) since she hadn't jumped from that kind of height.
We didn't see any other groups except passing one group coming in while we were coming out. The rope swing was so much fun and we were very happy with the lunch (the kids just ate the brownies, as they do). The scenery on the river is so so beautiful and the trail is fun without much elevation.
While I can say that this tour is very well suited to people of varying experience and fitness, it is still a somewhat physical tour. Make sure your kids know ahead of time how to manage trail walking with roots and rebar and possible slippery conditions. Do consider your ability to manage some trail hiking as the group goes all together. If you're looking for a fast paced activity, you might check out one of the other kayaking options. Our family had a great time and a big thanks to Ross for having such a great attitude and engaging our kids and the group in an upbeat way.

Aloha Jentourswithkids,
Mahalo for sharing your vacation with us and for the excellent review. Ross is fantastic. We always say we have something for almost everyone and you explained it best. Our Hidden Falls Picnic is perfect for the younger ones. Hope to see you again for another family adventure. :)
