Why lay down when you can stand up? Learn to stand up paddle, or SUP, in Kailua. This ancient water sport has made a major comeback with the help of new board technology, increasing the performance and ease of riding. Stand up paddling combines the thrill of surfing with the techniques of paddling, a match made in heaven. Kailua offers a variety of conditions, from flat water cruising to moderate chop and rolling waves. Lessons generally stick to the calmest areas to practice basic strokes and techniques.

Tommy, our instructor, was great, he gave good and clear instructions. He is strong to pull me up the board when I fell. The store has everything you need in case you miss. Locker for your belongings, although it only has outdoor shower to raise out the sand and use toilet inside the plaza. The lesson includes lunch voucher and discount for purchase in the store. The sandwich in market was good. The day was perfect for SUP, not wavy. I recommend this place. They offer other lessons too.

What a wonderful time we had doing our SUP lesson. All of the staff at Kailua Beach Adventures is very friendly, professional and just plain fun! The reservation process was easy and efficient as well as the check-in. We had the most amazing guide/teacher/sherpa, in Riki I. A BIGG SHOUT OUT TO RIKI!!! He's a real treasure because of his innate kindness and curiousity. He was very patient in teaching us the moves on the board, and just full of energy! On Flat Island, he regaled us with local stories, pointed out wildlife and was just an all around great guy! Definitely come to Kailua Beach and try this out. It's so worth it!
