Why lay down when you can stand up? Learn to stand up paddle, or SUP, in Kailua. This ancient water sport has made a major comeback with the help of new board technology, increasing the performance and ease of riding. Stand up paddling combines the thrill of surfing with the techniques of paddling, a match made in heaven. Kailua offers a variety of conditions, from flat water cruising to moderate chop and rolling waves. Lessons generally stick to the calmest areas to practice basic strokes and techniques.

Japanese lady Mieko was my SUP instructor. That was my first SUP experience. Thanks to Mieko, I had a great experience through canal, ocean and then landed flat island!!! Highly recommend :)

I had a great day today with instructor Riki! He was a great teacher and we even managed to surf a few waves! Not only that, did he told me lots about the local area which was a nice extra touch. Would highly recommend

Had the most amazing time doing the SUP lesson w/ KBA! Our guide Hayley was highly knowledgable and thorough in her instructions and had us newbies up and paddling in no time! She was also very passionate about sharing the ocean and history of Kailua. Overall an amazing and enriching experience we wonʻt forget! Highly recommend!
