Kualoa Ranch - Visite d'Aloha 'Aina

Aperçu
Our Kualoa Grown Tour allows guests to see the beauty and tranquility of one of Oahu’s most well-preserved ancient Hawaiian fishponds (Moli’i), which is carbon-dated at between 800 and 1,000 years old. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, you’ll get to learn about early Hawaiian aquaculture practices and how fish was farmed in this 153-acre actively farmed fishpond, still standing with much of the original stonewall infrastructure in place.

Guests will travel on a Trolley to explore the tropical fruit and flower gardens of Moli’i. Admire the accomplishments of the early Hawaiians as the rich stories of the voyaging canoe and ancient fishpond unfold.

I enjoyed the ride through the ranch on the tram and we were treated to a few stops with tastings. The first had macadamia nuts, papaya and some passion fruit water. The second had poi, dried fish and bananas. Our guide gave a good overview of the varieties of plants grown and some challenges the region faces. A nice little tour if you enjoy botanicals and learning more about the wild plants of Hawaii.

This has got to be one of the worst tours ever! It is seriously not worth your money. DO NOT youtube this tour to preview it because you will be sorely disappointed. Just search the video on youtube and you'll see what I mean. The video is direct from the Ranch's channel BUT be forewarned this is not what you get. this video is for another experience/tour they have. You get 3 small bites of pineapple, a macadamia that you crack yourself(points for the novelty factor), a slice of apple banana, dried tuna and a small taste of poi. Just save yourself the money and go to the Mac Farm to taste Macadamias and go to a farmers market to taste fruits like papaya, mangoes, dragonfruit, pineapples, and different bananas. The tour guides were great, the views were cool BUT not worth the money you pay. If i could have left no star then thats what iIwould have done. Wish I had known more about this tour before we went. So thoroughly disappointing. I totally would have skipped this and tried another experience at the ranch.

We purchased the GoCityCard and took the Kualoa Farm Ranch Food Tour. It was a very enjoyable tour. The guide was funny and I enjoyed the open trolley, the samples of fresh fruit etc. It was informative and I learned several things I didn't know about the produce. The best thing about the tour was the natural exquisite beauty. It is definitely a different view of Oahu. Several movies were filmed here; including 2 of my favorites, 50 First Dates and Jurassic Park. I also enjoyed the gift shop. It had multiple shelves with food from Hawaii you could purchase, and my boyfriend got some nice sunglasses. I purchased a turtle soap dish to help support the local turtle preservation effort. We had a lot of fun on the tour and the two stops were nice. There was a hen with her chicks running around one of the times we stopped and my grandson loved them. It was very entertaining when one of the other guest tried to pet a chick. The momma hen did not peck her but did rush her enough for her to know that petting was not allowed. I was sent an email to offer suggestions ...Here is what I would have liked... Reduce the price on the buffet. Provide car seats/boosters with straps. It seemed a little dangerous with a twenty month old on my lap the two times the trolley went on the main road. However, it was not long till we were back on the farm. The driver did not explain anything about the fish ponds or the canoe. I was very interested in the fish ponds, but we didn't hear anything about them. Adding that to the narrative would be great. I think the go card should have at least one other option, or a list of the packages that were available for purchase. I probably would have purchased one of the other packages if I had known about them ahead of time and if they had included the buffet. There are multiple attractions available that would be fun for all kinds of travelers; such as, couples, families, single people, and even solo. I will definitely come back if I get a chance. Maholo and blessings to you all!
