Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

The tram was fun (its only 12 or so minutes to the top) but the elevator at the top was broken (has been broken for over 1 month) so there is NO ACCESS to the hiking trails without the elevator if a person (like myself) is handicapped and uses an electric scooter. The tram itself is accessible (I drove onto the tramcar, no issue) but then at the top, there was a staircase that a person would need to go down one flight to be able to access the trails. Same to get to the restaurant on the upper floor - without the elevator there was no access. There was a handicapped sign in multiple locations before buying tickets saying that the elevator at "Mountain Station" was being repaired but nowhere is there any signage telling you that access to the trails or restaurant is not possible for wheelchairs or scooters or anyone who can't navigate steps! We stayed at the top for just 10 minutes and then headed down. They refunded the cost of the tram which was over $50. The views were nice but just wish we could have spent time hiking. Very disappointing.

Really, if you're in Palm Springs, this is a necessary activity! It's a beautiful drive just to get to the tram. We did have a bit of a wait for our scheduled time as we did not buy tickets ahead of time. There is a small museum and of course, a gift store, along with some nice sitting spots outside. The tram car revolves and there is an announcer. Gorgeous views!

Loved every moment of this experience. The tram is a revolving ride so you get the 360 degree view. The mountainside is a breath taking experience. Once you reach the top of the mountain there is a small place to eat, have a drink, take in the scenery for the day, visit the mini museum, and visit the gift shop. There is also a few walking trails to take and experience the Jeffery Pine trees and smell that wonderful vanilla and butterscotch smell. One might be somewhat affected by the thin air since you are over 8,000 feet at the top of the mountain. It was a welcomed refresher from the desert heat.
