On a hot summer's day, one of the best things to do in Palm Springs is to take a ride from the dry desert floor with the Aerial Tramway, 5,873 feet up into the cool climate of the San Jacinto Mountains.   • The Tramway is subject to delays and periodic shutdowns due to unforeseen circumstances and is not responsible for ticket refunds or the inability to redeem a voucher
  • Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
  • Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
  • The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
  • Strollers are permitted on this tour
  • During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
  • There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

120 degrees below but 78 on the top! Very scenic. Nice facility. Car revolves so may not be comfortable if scared of heights. Last car down at 8pm. Our group sang all the way down. Many trails but worth just the view. Gift shop on top closed when we were there. Parking is extra unless you're local.

So worth the trip. This was a great time by all with amazing views from the minute you step inside the waiting area until you leave. The tram itself rotates so you see everything on the ride up and down. Once up top the views are amazing and you can see for miles and miles.

I decided to start my Palm Springs trip with the aerial tram ride up the mountain to Mount San Jacinto State Park. The parking is $10 and the tram ride $26.75 so it's pricey but worth the ride! Great views of the Coachella valley, Palm Springs and you can see all the way to the Salton sea. I wish I had visited during cooler weather but it was 37 degrees cooler at the top, so I wanted to stay!! A perfect place to hike, have a nice lunch and enjoy nature in the desert! The park rangers and all the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Great for families!
