Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

One of the best things to do in Palm Springs! If you can't take the 100+ degree temperatures in the valley, just take the tram to San Jacinto Peak where it will probably be in the 70's. Unless you don't like heights or the fact that the car rotates 360 degrees as you ascend, it's the best $29 you'll spend in Palm Springs. There is a bar and cafe at the top, picnic area and easy hiking trails with great views.

Long Vally Loop is always nice. I went on a weekday off season. There were very few people. My only wish was that the tram operator and security person (ranger?) on the tram world wear their masks as mandated. No one is the exception.

From a person with a fear of mountains...LOL Not heights, but high, open spaces. The ride was interesting. Very smooth, but there are some spots where the tram sways. The view at the top was nice. We spent more time than we thought at the top. We had a cheese, meat and fruit tray with bevvies and talked. Prepare yourselves for the walk from the car to the station. You are walking up at 2000+ elevation. I had trouble getting out of the car. Couple all of that with the sun radiating from the asphalt and... fun times. Drink plenty of water. Wear walking or tennis shoes (not flip flops/sandals)
