Seeing Chicago by Segway was fun and pretty easy. It was my first time on a Segway, and "Captain Segway" Mike was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide. He taught us and then helped us individually on the Segway; we practiced in a safe alley before leaving. It was a beautiful, blue, Memorial Day weekend, and the park was busy. Traveling by Segway is a cross between walking and biking; meaning, you can ride on the sidewalk, with the speed and comfort of biking, but with the ability to stop and follow pedestrians on the Chicago lakefront. I'm a lifetime Chicagoan and saw things that's I've never seen before, like statue installations, or saw things in a new way, that I've just passed & parked in my car before (like the other side of the Field Museum, Soldier Field, and the south side of Grant Park). My out-of-town guests and my husband and I all loved it. We will continue to take Segways in other cities.
Some details: we parked at a parking garage across the street. We were all middle-aged adults in reasonable shape. You have to be able to stay standing for 2 hours with reasonable balance to ride a Segway.
