6-godzinna prywatna wycieczka po Montgomery dotycząca praw obywatelskich

Przegląd
This tour will take us to some of the most important sites that defined the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama. Our journey will take us on a definitive and emotional story of the civil rights era that changed the fabric of American life and sparked a movement. From the pulpit where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached to the spot where Mrs. Rosa Parks refuse to give up her seat on a Montgomery City bus. Afterwards, we'll continue on to the Civil Rights Memorial center and many other sites related to the Civil Rights movement. It's been said that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Narodowe Pomnik Pokoju i Sprawiedliwości
National Memorial for Peace and Justice powstał z nadzieją na stworzenie trzeźwego, znaczącego miejsca, w którym ludzie będą mogli gromadzić się i zastanawiać nad historią nierówności rasowych w Ameryce.

National Memorial for Peace and Justice
The National Memorial for Peace and Justice was conceived with the hope of creating a sober, meaningful site where people can gather and reflect on America's history of racial inequality. Set on a six-acre site, the memorial uses sculpture, art, and design to contextualize racial terror. The national memorial is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy.

We enthusiastically recommend Jake's 3-day Civil Rights tour. Jake is warm, kind and obliging. He is well-organised, misses no details, and makes sure his spotless van is comfortable and well-equipped for visitors. The two of us did the tour with Jake through the cities of Birmingham, Marion, Selma, Montgomery and Tuskegee. Jake's intimate and nuanced knowledge of the history of these cities and towns is brought to life by the fact that he is a 'foot soldier' of the Civil Rights movement, having lived though this difficult and often tragic period. The stories he shared were both political and personal, both famous and anecdotal, and helped us vividly experience the past. While Jake's manner is relaxed and accommodating, he really cared about our education in the Civil Rights history of the region and made sure we missed nothing. We particularly enjoyed seeing beautiful Montgomery, Jake's introducing us to interesting local identities, and visiting the sites particularly significant to the voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery and to the story of Rosa Parks. The National Memorial for Peace and Justice is unmissable. Thank you for sharing this special history with us, Jake, and for the lessons in how best to eat Southern fried chicken!!

Over 2 days, Jake Williams shared his personal involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. As someone who walked in part of the Selma march, he guided us to key locations and explained the implications of actions taken to help us understand the history of the area. We learned about Montgomery and traced the Selma march route in an air conditioned bus. Highlights of our tour included the Voting Rights museum and the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church parsonage.

When we decided to take the "Civil Rights Tour" with another couple, our friend found Jake on line and, after talking with him, decided this was the best way to see the area. How right! From the moment we met him, we knew this was would be a special trip. In addition to his knowledge and personal experiences which are covered in other reviews, Jake is accommodating and willing to work with your schedule. After the arrival of our friends' plane was delayed, he was able to adjust his schedule to allow us to see everything in two half days instead of one. He drives a very clean passenger van with a microphone system that actually works. His recommendations for restaurants and activities were spot on. Jake started as a tour guide, but ended up a friend.
