Destrehan Plantation i Swamp Tour Combo z Nowego Orleanu

Combine two excellent New Orleans day trips with this 6-hour experience visiting Destrehan Plantation and going on a swamp tour. This Plantaiton is the closest Plantation to the Fench Quarter. Visit the 1787 Antebellum housein the Mississippi Valley, including an 1811 slave revolt museum/cabin on the grounds along with its massive oak trees. Next take a swamp tour in the bayou to look for alligators, turtles, snakes, and other wildlife. The boat ride will be 1 hour and 40 minutes. The Plantation house tour is limited to 20 persons in each group and the average guided house tour will be about 1 hour. Overall you spend about 1 hour 30 minutes at the Destrehan Plantation grounds and house tour.

Went on this tour about a week ago (Feb 2018) , Tour was very good. Got to see a plantation and swamp in the same day gave us more time in the city for the rest of our trip. Staff at Destrehan were wonderful and very informative. Staff at the swamp were very funny, our guide on the boat gave me a good laugh. However the tour guide on the bus was NOT warm and fuzzy. She was a little sarcastic to others on the bus.

When we were trying to decide which plantation to visit, we chose Destrehan because Destrehan is one of the closest to New Orleans and the oldest and one of the most historic plantations in Louisiana. Located just off of the Mississippi river (approximately 15 minutes outside of Metarie), Destrehan was home to one of the 4 council members hand picked by Thomas Jefferson to aid in the acclimating of the French Louisiana residents into the United States just after the Louisiana purchase in 1803. The house tour is led by guides and they also discuss the history of slavery at the plantation. Destrehan was also where the trial of the famous slave revolt of 1811 took place. Very interesting and historic tour.
