Would highly recommend the BREW-ed tour. The group size was much smaller than some of the other tour groups we saw around Asheville that weekend, which was great because we really got to know the other people in the group and got to have really engaging conversations with Cliff about Beer-making practices, terminology, identifying smells and tastes, Asheville History, and all kinds of things in between. Cliff is super knowledgeable and is a very cool guy to spend the afternoon with talking about Beer.
I do a little home brewing, and fancy myself as knowing a little bit about Beer here and there, so what I liked about this tour specifically, as opposed to some other ones we saw in passing, was that this is not just a wander from place to place and sample some different types of beer tour, Cliff is also SUPER knowledgeable, and there is tons of opportunities to discuss things, and you'll also learn a lot of really cool and interesting stuff about how things got their names, origins of different types of beer, fermentation and beer-making chemistry, where certain flavors come from in the process, historical significance of certain types of beer, and tons of fun facts about Asheville. So there is plenty to talk about, even for somebody who may already know a good bit about beer.
So to recap, Cliff is a super cool, knowledgeable, and laid back guy, you learn tons of cool stuff, everything is very interesting, all the beers are good, you get to walk around downtown, and the amount of beer samples that come with the tour are well worth the price. So definitely take this one. You won't be disappointed.
