We stayed at the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, where we were treated to this wonderful, quick and easy Checkerboard Overlook Jeep Tour.
If you’re looking for a review on our guide Teresa, read along to the first paragraph, if you’re looking for a review of the scenics, our Jeep Ride, timeline, etc…then read along to the second paragraph.
When we checked into the resort, we were shown where the activity center was where we’d eventually learn, was the center of all things accessible on the resort grounds. You can find rackets for tennis, there’s UTV rides, rock climbing, basketball, paintball and a bunch of other things you can choose to book like we did, to fill up the hours during our stay.
Teresa and her colleague checked us in, we signed waivers, and we were shown to our custom outfitted Jeep that was made to traverse the terrain as we made our way to the outlook points. Teresa was knowledgeable, offered us snacks, and expertly drove the Jeep through the trail she knew like the back of her hand. She was courteous, made safety a priority and offered insight into the landscape and history of the outlook she guided us to.
The entire trip lasted about an hour and the trail was bumpy enough to get a feel for the outdoors, but safe enough to take children and families on. Small snacks were provided, they included pretzels and granola bars. I took a granola bar for later….
The scenics are amazing, the checkerboard overlook was huge, incredible to look at, and while on the trail we were introduced to the smell that Ponderosa Pines give off, and now I want a Ponderosa Pine candle for my bathroom.
I recommend staying at the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, and I recommend going on this Jeep tour before embarking on other activities that East Zion Adventures offers.
Thanks!
