The train ride was so fun! I really enjoyed it. Very scenic with lots of trees. Robbery on the way back was fun (bring small bills to tip the robbers if you want to). Our musician was great and played a few requests well. We had first class tickets going to the Grand Canyon and the orange juice, water, sodas, and fruit and pastries provided were nice. We had coach tickets back and were a little bummed after sitting in first class. I couldn’t decide if first class was worth the extra money so I only did it one way. It definitely is more money but it might be worth it if you like less people, less noise and bigger comfier seats and some snacks. We were in probably the coziest first class section next to the snack area of the first class car. There were 14 people in our first class car and the coach car was full of noisy people with bus style seats. First class had a little table and four seats facing each other. You get about 3 hours at the Grand Canyon and they drop you off at the village. We walked along the rim and looked at the village shops and had lunch. You could also do a tour for extra money but we had little kids with us and didn’t think they’d be interested. I feel like this is a must do for a visit to the Grand Canyon. It will take up a whole day though. We also stayed at the Railway hotel which was nice. There is a cowboy show in the morning before the train ride all the way at the far end of the train tracks. We missed it because we didn’t know where it was and saw it the next morning. It was okay.
