Friends recommended we take the train from Williams to the Grand Canyon, and we were glad we followed up on the recommendation. We purchased tickets for the observation deck on the way and first class on the return, both experiences were good. The observation deck on the way served mini muffins, tangerines, coffee and juice, on the return cheese and veggies were served - both self service. Alcoholic beverages were offered for a fee. If you are traveling in the summer, suggest bypassing the alcohol on the way and hydrate as much as possible, saving alcohol beverages for the trip back. The elevation at the Canyon was over 7,000 ft and the temp when we arrived was mid 90 degrees, the heat being oppressive. There was plenty to see at the Canyon and we had a nice lunch in the cool restaurant. Entertainment on the train was fun, recommend bringing $ for tipping.
