Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

Can't say enough about Hoonah Whale Tours! Captain Jordan's expertise and knowledge made our whale watching tour an awesome experience with many great memories!! The personal touch of delicious homemade blueberry muffins by Captain Jordan's wife, Maraiya, along with the hot chocolate and coffee was an unexpected and much appreciated treat! If you are wanting to see whales, I would highly recommend booking your whale watching tour with Hoonah Whale Tours!!

Pop Pop brought the binoculars, but daughter and granddaughter made the most of them! Icy Strait Point was "coolish" in mid-July but once we headed out, the jackets became more important. Captain Jordan was our young and personable guide aboard Thor II, a 31.5 foot catamaran. The ride was smooth and comfortable for our five-member group, but the search was intense. Although our cameras were utilized, too much time was spent saying "Whoa" and forgetting to take that perfect shot. We passed cute sea otters in route to locate the humpback whales and an eagle on the return trip. Fortunately, we amassed our quota of sightings and returned safely to rejoin our cruise ship. We won't soon forget our trip out of Icy Strait Point on the Hoonah Whale Tour......just remember to bring the binoculars, cameras, jacket and enthusiasm!
