Awesome experience! I’ll be honest, I read the negative reviews beforehand and was worried this was going to be a waste of money, but that was nowhere near the truth for our manta encounter. The staff were very warm, friendly, and our in-the-water guide, Jordan, was super knowledgeable about the mantas. I was really nervous after reading the reviews about jellyfish stings, so we rented the wetsuits/shirts. No jellies (found out later it mostly depends on moon cycle), but still glad we rented them because the water was pretty cold. Bring your own wetsuit if you want more full-body coverage. We saw two manta rays and they swam within inches of our faces! You could hear the squeals of excitement through the snorkels of the other passengers. There were other groups from other tours out in the water with us, but we were all spread out far enough that it didn’t seem to affect us. My only suggestion is this: if you are not comfortable swimming and/or snorkeling, please consider that before you book. Would also suggest spending some time during the day out in the water practicing. We had a couple of people in our group that couldn’t figure out how to properly get into viewing position and I’m pretty positive that spooked the mantas that we did see and prevented others from coming over to our group. Also, yes, there is a waiting period after check-in, so be prepared. Otherwise, would 100% do it again!

Amazing experience to see the manta rays. A couple things to note: start time was an hour after the tour time. Our tour was supposed to begin at 9pm and we didn't get into the water until 10pm. Also, we thought the wetsuits were included in the tour. The wetsuits cost an additional $10 per person to rent. Lastly, parking / finding the tent was a little difficult. A lot of tours are also in the same area. Other than that, seeing the manta rays up close was a super cool experience.

Aloha, as per your ticket, your check in time was at 9pm. The check in process takes about 20-30 minutes depending on if guests have completed their waivers, show up a few minutes late etc. You then have to walk down to the boat, board the boat, and then the Captain drives you to the Manta Location. While I will say that we were operating roughly 15-20 minutes late that night due to boat traffic at the dock, this is the process that we do for every tour. Your ticket specifically says the CHECK IN TIME, and it is NOT your departure time. 90% of the companies in Keauhou do offer wetsuit rentals, because we do not build them into our price, as they are not mandatory and they are optional. While most people do elect to either rent our wetuits or bring their own, they are not mandatory to do the trip. Generally speaking, most people find it pretty easy with the one road access into the harbor to find our 12 foot tall white van parked directly on the side of the road with 5 spot lights on the back of it, but we are sorry to hear that you had some difficulty in seeing the van and tent as you drive down the road.
