Adventures on the Gorge

Meet your rafting trip leader at the departure point. You will listen to a brief orientation and get your gear (personal flotation device, helmet and paddle). Then, you will have a 30-minute ride on a school bus down to the river put-in. Your guide will go over additional instructions once you get in the raft. The trip begins with a few smaller class I-III rapids as you ease into paddling and working as a team. Then, you hit some bigger rapids rated class IV-V. About half way through the trip, your trip will pull over and eat a deli-style lunch on the shore. After lunch, you will continue downstream into the heart of the Gorge. Here you’ll go through several rapids rated class III-V. Between rapids, there is time for swimming, floating and maybe (based on water levels) jumping off of rocks. The trip ends just past the New River Gorge Bridge.

AOTG/The Rivermen did not disappoint! Had an exciting rafting trip, enjoyed the food, music, and sunbathing at their Resort pool with deck overlooking the bridge & river far below. Fabulous trip, will definitely come again soon…we’ll worth the 7-hr drive! Lisa

We had a great time on the rapids with Weakley as our guide. The river was up and fast and he kept us all in the boat, even hitting the biggest waves we could. We'll definitely be requesting him again for our next trip.

Our guide Jason was great on our rafting trip! Adventures on the Gorge was a very clean facility with lots for kids to do. They have a nice pub as well with food and beverages. I would love to stay there on our next trip to WV.
