What a fantastic way to start a visit to NYC! The tour stops at many of the must see locations and gets you oriented for the rest of your time in the city. We loved the Staten Island Ferry with it's views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Grand Central Terminal is really breathtaking in its beauty, and the history around Liberty Park was fascinating. Ending the day and the 911 Memorial is both sobering and beautiful. There were many opportunities to use restrooms along the way and multiple lunch spot choices. The pace was very easy and provided many opportunities to chat with the other members of our small group. It was a nice way to meet other people one might not otherwise get to know.
Our tour leader, Tom, was simply awesome! He made our day a fabulous experience with his seemingly endless knowledge of history, He provided many, many fascinating details that would be hard to come by in a tour book. His warm, self-deprecating style made everyone feel comfortable asking questions, and he often supplied extra advice and suggestions about other things to see and do. His love and enthusiasm for NYC and it's long history were readily apparent and easy to catch. We simply had a blast!
Highly recommend this tour. We were concerned as when we were there the weather was -20C and although it was freezing the lovely, knowledgeable guide Sara ensured we went inside different places to keep warm. We learnt alot about the city and went to places we wouldn't have known existed otherwise and got to see all of the famous sights. It is alot of walking but it's flat so wasn't a problem.
