This was a terrible experience. I thought it was a rip off. I understand Northern lights are not guaranteed but for the price and what we got it was ridiculous. Charging us that much money and then still we have to pay for our meal in an expensive restaurant that we have no choice in is not right. Too much downtime. Charging for an apple martini. These things should all have been included in the price. Directions of the itinerary warrant consistent or clear. . It was obvious we weren’t going to see the lights but we still had to stay there till midnight before we could leave. Terrible . The guide was OK

We are sorry to hear that your experience with us was not a good one Pamela. The cost of the Chena Hot Springs tour does include pick up and drop off at your hotel, transportation to and from Chena Hot Springs, admission into the hot springs as well as the Ice Museum. Our website clearly states that your meal nor your drink at the Ice Bar are included in the cost of this tour. After reviewing the trip log for that night, your tour guide noted that she did in fact go over the itinerary for the evening as soon as your group arrived at the hot springs. We are sorry if you felt that this was not as clear as it should be and have informed our guides to please be more clear with the itinerary from here on out. Yes, even though the lights were not visible due to the cloud cover, the hot springs themselves are open until 1145pm for guests to enjoy them. Our tour generally departs Chena Hot Springs around 1am to head back to Fairbanks which is why the tour itself can last until 3am as described on our webpage. While we do strive to provide excellent service on every tour that we do, we do understand that not everyone will have the same experience. Chena Hot Springs is a must do when in Fairbanks, whether it's during the day or at night. My friend and I opted to do it at night so we can try to see the Aurora lights, but I'll get to that part later. We started off the tour going to the Ice Museum with Bash as our guide and bartender for that part. It's a small little museum but pretty cool. The appletinis served in ice martini glasses were dope but very strong so be warned haha! It's a mix of green apply schnapps and vodka I think it was. I got pretty buzzed with it. We got to smash the ice glasses outside the museum when our time was up, which was fun. We had reservations for dinner at the resort, booked by our tour guide, afterwards so we head there. The food is quite pricey but yummy--the dinner rolls are complimentary. After that, the hot springs were next. The towels are complimentary and make sure to hydrate before and after going to the hot springs. It was so nice to relax in the water and I had tried to get my hair to frost standing up, but my hair was too long. Because you're there at night though, you can't really see much except for whatever is illuminated by colored lights at the hot springs. It's very steamy so don' expect to see any lights in the sky in there. The locker room and showers of the hot springs though are dirty so make sure to bring shower shoes. For the finale of the tour, we went to the Activity Center of the resort for the Aurora Viewing Room. Unfortunately, we tried to look for lights for two hours in and outside of the room and saw nothing. It probably just wasn't a good spot to see the lights in general because the KP was higher that night and other people who went to different spots in Fairbanks had seen it. Because there were no lights, we ended up leaving earlier than planned, which was fine because we were exhausted. Overall, a nice tour that covers must do experiences with provided transportation. I only knocked it down a rating because our tour guide was a bit scattered. Very nice woman but we were only her fourth tour done in general, so she was shaky on the process. We had to search for her a couple times because she didn't tell us where she'd be, so we had no idea where to go and when we were supposed to go the next activity. Like I said though, she was very nice and offered to pull the van over on our way back if the lights decided to make a surprise appearance. If a day you wanted to do this tour is booked, definitely keep checking because people do cancel. There was only one spot left for the day I went but I needed two spots, so I called the company, and they were able to squeeze us in.
