I will begin by saying I had high hopes. I read a lot of reviews about Carmel Limo Service and watched several videos that all praised how incredible their service was. I now wish I had dug a little deeper into my research. I was in NYC last weekend (Sept 24 - Sept 26) for a leisure trip with a couple of friends. One flew into Newark and the other two of us flew into JFK. I booked Carmel cars for both. While my friend who flew into Newark experienced only minor issues, my friend and I who flew into JFK experienced horrifying service - not once, but twice...both on the pickup at JFK and the ride back a couple of days later. On the day of pickup, a car was reserved for 12:15 arrival. Due to circumstances beyond my control (a baggage issue with Delta Airlines), I had to wait for luggage and could not get out to the car. My traveling companion was in the car with the driver who, apparently, was growing increasingly irritated that I wasn't immediately out there. It got so bad that she finally said to him, "let me out, give my my luggage, and go!" He left us there and we had to get a different driver and wait additional time for a new car. Not a good first impression and definitely not a good way to start the trip. On Sunday, the Carmel experience went from bad to worse. Our driver picked us up at the hotel for return to JFK airport. After 45 minutes of driving, we're 1 mile from LaGuardia Airport and I had to inquire with the driver if he was, in fact, taking us to JFK. In the rearview mirror, I could see a momentary panicked look on his face as he assured me that's where he was heading as he switched lanes and we continued on toward JFK. I will also mention that both trips were booked with the "luxury sedan" option. Neither trip had what I considered to be a luxury sedan, unless you consider a Toyota Corolla and a minivan as luxury. If you choose to use Carmel, I highly encourage you to NOT book a luxury sedan and save yourself some money in the process. I really expected so much more from this company. To add insult to injury, I shared feedback with the company and have yet to have my concerns even so much as acknowledged by Carmel customer service. They clearly don't care about feedback unless it's all positive. Given my experience, all I can say is that I will not ever again use this service and I highly encourage you to do your homework when making arrangements for transportation and find a more reliable and professional service to use with drivers who will not abandon you at the airport or try to take you to the wrong place.
