I was very disappointed with our experience from JFK to our hotel. As soon as we got into the car the Chinese driver informed us we would have to pay a toll fee. I was aware that this may be the case so was prepared for it. We asked how much and was told 19. My husband and I both thought this a bit steep but let it go. Our driver drove quite erratically, changed lanes often and honking the horn. Even though the notice in the car said our journey should be otherwise!! On arrival at the toll booth, the toll tag on the windscreen for automatic thoroughfare, didn't work. Our driver had to pay cash. Turned out the fee is only 8. Obviously to begin with the driver was conning us!!! He then proceeded to talk on the phone in Chinese for the rest of the journey, kept insisting we pay cash for the toll and didn't help us with our luggage on arrival. I was dreading the return journey. Thankfully a much more pleasant experience was had on the way back to JFK. The driver even went the long way around to avoid sitting in traffic and was honest about the 8 toll fee.
Small communication problem so we had to wait a bit long, but was ok and cool to get to our place directly !
The system worked week with pick up within 15 minutes of contacting them. There are a lot of rogue taxi drivers at the airport so this was reassuring. A rather surly driver who said nothing and at the end of the journey asked for his tip and the toll fee. This was not made clear in the information and costs 8.
