Desert Highlights is Moab's original canyoneering guide service. This half day canyoneering tour visits a route that Desert Highlights' founder created as a technical guided canyoneering route in the late 1990's. Here, we explore an area that most people would not visit on their own. With the use of ropes and other technical gear, a competent guide and a sense of adventure, we are able to explore areas that are otherwise inaccessible. The Moab desert is our home and we are passionate about sharing it with others. During your guided tour, you will not only safely descend a beautiful, water-carved canyon, but you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of the area that we are so lucky to call our backyard.

The highlight of our trip to Utah was definitely rappelling the medieval chamber with Kai. We had never tried rappelling before and Kai was the absolute best. We reviewed different companies and so glad we chose Desert Highlights. Everything was top notch and would love to go back and do it again. Don’t miss this opportunity it will be unforgettable. We would highly recommend Desert Highlights! From Melissa's initial patience and kindness on the phone when we were considering booking, to our amazing day with Herb, it was excellent from start to finish. Herb took our family of 5 on a rappeling / hiking trip and he was both patient and really enjoyable to spend the day with. Our kids had some trepidation and he handled it beautifully, and our 4 year old never stopped talking to him the entire time and he was exceedingly good natured about it. If you're going to Moab and want to do a guided trip, go with them for sure!
