Both tours were very nice and the staff of grey line was very accommodating. We originally were scheduled on a day when it rained very heavy rain and they let us move to the next day. While the trolley was very nice the amount of historical information is almost overwhelming that they give about different military leaders over time. So make sure that is what you want to hear. The boat ride was very nice. However if you sit up on the outdoor deck it is very difficult to hear the narrator. Overall I would recommend this to people with the two comments as noted. While Savannah is beautiful rain or shine, tours can definitely be more fun in the sun! Our drivers have the freedom to create their own tour, which allows them to speak on what they find the most interesting. Our Trolley tour was fun & very interesting, because Big Scott added his own stories & historical knowledge to the tour! We learned quite a lot about the various areas in & around Savannah & then we knew which areas we wanted to investigate further on our own! The many squares are lovely & the Azaleas were just beginning to bloom - it will be magnificent near the last of March! The Georgia Queen Paddle wheel cruise was also very interesting & the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the river, shipping along the river, & the history of Savannah. We had a little over an hour between tours & I would suggest a very quick lunch & then get in line to board the ship early. As the people board, they load the ship from bottom to top. When we arrived, the two lower levels were full & we had to go to level 3 (inside with not much A/C) or 4 (top deck). If it is sunny & hot, (which it was!) there were a few tables with umbrellas left, but most of the seating was taken. So, get there early to find seating which you prefer.

The bus tour was excellent. Dan, the driver/guide, was very knowledgeable and funny. He made the tour great; we would go back just because of him. He took us everywhere and shared a lot of history we had never heard before. The bus was roomy but the seats are wood slats and after a bit of time became very uncomfortable. Otherwise, loved the bus tour! On the other hand, the river cruse was a huge disappoint. The bus folks dropped us off on River St near the boat but we had to walk about a 1/4 mile in the rain to the gang plank. Once there were were told that we only had the order receipt, not the "boarding tickets" and to get the tickets WE ALL had to return to the ticket office back where the bus dropped us to get the tickets. One of our party is 84 and could barely walk, yet he was told by the guy at the gang plank he had to go back with us. As it turns out, that was not correct, and that added activity took a good 15-20 minutes in heavy rain. By the time we get back with the tickets to the gang plank the main seating area was pretty full with no seats near a window. Since it was storming outside our only option to see anything was to go out on the outside rail and get soaked. So we mostly stayed inside, visited with each other and just ignored being on a boat cruise. We all complained pretty loudly to the "plank Nazi" and then again to what appears to be an "crew officer": both just shrugged and were basically unsympathic. Given how most tours are in bad shape due to travel restrictions we would have thought the cruise staff would be more accommodating. But we won't do this cruise again and don't recommend it.
