This is an excellent tour. The driver was very knowegable and very helpful. The swamp tour was funny. I can't believe the alligators like marshmallow. They are vey small compared to Australian crocodiles. Anyway it's was great time. We really enjoyed the tour of Stately Oaks even though it was raining a lot. The lunch was terrific. Sadly I left my rain coat behind in the ladies toilets. I didn't realise until it until I got back to Australia. The tour of Laura was really good and lots of new and different info about plantation life. The only criticism would be that if people are not ready to go,when the bus comes to pick them up we should not have to wait for them for 20 minutes. I say too bad. Go with out them.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR, however at times re:the Laura plantation.it got a bit bogged down in its history - too many people to follow.
The swamp boat adventure ride is definitely the highlight! So exhilarating, and the drivers are charming, knowledgeable and try very hard to get you up close to the gators as well as showing you an abundance of other wildlife. The Laura's creole plantation is amazing, great guided tour with a lot of history and authentic house colouring and furniture etc and a beautiful gift shop. The history you learn on this part of the tour is something I'd never heard about in comparison to the traditional colonial plantation farms which are often what you see in movies, books etc. The other plantain is gimmicky, overdone and nowhere near as authentic as the creole plantation you visit. Worth it to see the beautiful lawns and house from the outside, but the inside is very disappointing. The tour company is nothing to rave about, it's the places you visit that make this tour worthwhile! Had a friendly driver/escort, however, his speeches/ facts were very rehearsed and he often stated the same stories/ facts over again because he really didn't know what to say. Would of liked to have a more knowledgeable/ passionate driver.
