This is an interesting and informative tour. The two plantations are very different in character so it is definitely worth seeing both. The guide on the swamp tour was superb—very knowledgeable and practical. The lunch was delicious.
Two drawbacks:
* travel time to and from (it is just that far, be prepared)
* visiting the swamp/bayou when the alligators are hibernating (November–March)
Driver was friendly and very knowledgeable, shared interesting information on the drive out and back. Airboat guide was entertaining telling us all about the swamp and the different things we passed. Plantation tours were nice, gained and understanding of life back then.
The destinations on this tour are fantastic. Laura plantation tour guide 'Ethan' was the best I have ever experienced. The only issue is that on the bus on the way to and from the tour destinations we could not hear a thing. We have travelled over half way around the world and was really upset and disappointed that we could not hear a thing the bus driver was saying, so we missed alot. We were not the only people on this bus that coud not hear. We were in the back of the bus. We did ask several times for the driver to speak up but to no avail. Very strongly suggest the driver get herself a microphone. Very very disappointed.
