Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. Come explore with local professionals who love what they do and see the difference for yourself.

My husband and I had an amazing time on this excursion. Kayaking through the mangroves was very cool as was walking around the Shell Key Preserve. Our guide Brian was terrific and shared his knowledge of the area and wildlife. We highly recommended it!

My husband and I had an amazing kayak tour with Doug and Ross. We loved having a group of 6 plus our two guides. We had the best time kayaking through the mangroves, looking for shells on the island, and watching all the wildlife. Doug and Ross were so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We would for sure come back and do it again! The weather was spectacular. Our first kayak tour was cancelled due to wind conditions but we were notified well in advance and easily rebooked. So glad we were able to make it out. Thanks for a great time!!

Loved this tour, it exceeded all our expectations, nana, parents & teens. Was lucky enough to see a manatee thanks to our knowledgable guide Brian & loved watching ‘Kevin the cormorant’ dive for fish alongside the kayak & ospreys circling overhead. Had my first encounter with a mangrove crab too - the whole trip was a delight for any wildlife fan. Great way to see the quiet side of the Gulf. Highly recommend.
