Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. Come explore with local professionals who love what they do and see the difference for yourself.

Tour guide Brian is outstanding. An experienced kayaker with lots of knowledge and stories of the area’s ecosystem, habitats, and native species to look for. Easy to book online and one of the best experiences for the tour cost. This was our 4th visit to St Pete and I wished we found this tour in the 3 other years. We used free beach ride.com to get to the launch site. There was an up-charge since launch location was out of territory. Uber and Lyft estimates were just $1 lower. Bat’s taxi higher. My son and I have kayaked several times in local lakes but were not intimidated by the tour. Experience in kayaking should not be of concern. All in all, this is an excellent, trustworthy tour company with great owners and guides. Fun and educational! Bright, sunny weather. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, camera and a bottle of water. Light snack to eat during a break optional. Bathing suit optional but I recommend. Water shoes would be useful on Shell Key in hindsight; I wore Crocs and my son flip flops. This is a tour to repeat as the environment is fluid providing a new experience. We’ll be back.

My husband and I went on the kayak tour to Shell Key Preserve with our guide Brian. And it was much more than we had expected. We went through mangrove tunnels and spent time on the beach on Shell Island which was beautiful. We learned a lot about the natural habitat - Brian was full of all kinds of interesting facts. we will definitely recommend this tour - one of the highlights of our trip to St. Pete Beach.

My husband and I went on the kayak tour to Shell Key Preserve with Brian and Doug - it was more than we could have expected! The tour guides went out of their way to make everyone in the group feel comfortable and at ease regardless of experience level. They were knowledgeable, super friendly, and were very entertaining. We didn't get to see any dolphins this trip but a manatee just happened to swim past right beside our kayaks. We went through mangrove tunnels and spent time on the beach on Shell Island which was beautiful. I learned a lot about the natural habitat - they were full of all kinds of interesting facts. I would definitely recommend this tour - it would be my first stop on a return trip to St. Pete Beach.
