When it comes to Colorado whitewater, hardly anyone knows about the San Miguel River. Which is kind of a surprise! Given how much fun it is, on top of being in proximity to bougie and beloved Telluride.

The rafting section is gorgeously scenic, exciting for all experience levels, and pretty much a must if you want to spend the morning like a local. Its red sandstone canyon juxtaposed by flourishing pine forests make for a picturesque setting to recreate on this Rocky Mountain river.

Anyone who loves the outdoors will have an absolute hoot on this tour, whether it’s your first or hundredth time rafting. Just ask our guides, most— if not all!— will agree that the San Miguel is their favorite river to run.

Float under a Dr Seuss tree, wave to the friendly residents along the way under the red cliffs. Feel the power and beauty of nature simultaneously. KY (Kyle Young) steered “like a beast” carving turns with rocks.

After looking down at the San Miguel from the road for years when visiting Telluride, my family finally was able to experience it from the water! The guides were outstanding and the half day trip was the perfect addition to our time in Telluride. The instructions were helpful. Read the packing list! Fun couple of hours for my family on a gorgeous river.

Booked a half day for my sisters bachelorette weekend in Telluride and we had an amazing time! Our river guide John was truly the best. He made us feel safe while also having a great time with our group. Couldn’t have asked for a better day on the river, thank you guys so so much!!
