We wanted to see how the orphans were treated and housed. Most of the items in the house were from the owners personal posessions. There were many items on how the cowboys, indians. Spaniards had influenced the area. There were many guns, swords, outer space information and lots of other items to see.There was hardly any information on how the orphans were housed or how they were brought there.

Very good collection of artifacts from native americans, cowboys, wartime, up to high society in Texas. Also nice collection of paintings and sculptures. One of favorites was the diorama of of the Battle of San Jacinto. The house also has an interesting history of its own and it's surrounded by a lovely garden.

Fascinating local history and interesting artifacts. We took the free Saturday afternoon tour which was excellent but it would be a perfectly good place to look around without a guide.
