Took the 3-hour Ultimate Whale Watch trip on the Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Explorer. Expert and friendly crew (Capt. Courtney, naturalists Megan and Laura, and researcher Mattie) educated us about all things whale, fed us a great lunch and treated us to a safe, comfortable and memorable adventure. Saw many, many whales doing all kinds of acrobatics. Several swam close to our stopped boat. The highlight was a calf that came alongside for several minutes and then came up out of the water to look at us! Spectacular trip! Glad that our money goes to an organization working hard to protect these wonderful animals. Recommend this highly.

Our family of 4 did the 6:30am whale tour from Ma'alaea Harbour. We showed up late and the crew were totally accommodating and friendly. I've been on many whale watching trips (in B.C.) and this was the best for incredible number of whales, interpretation and overall friendly feeling. From start to finish it was world-class.

I never thought I would ever go on a commercial whale watch because I feel that generally these outfits stress out the whales by following them around too closely, but I came along with my daughter's family and it turned out to be a wonderful experience because at no point did they harass the whales. In fact, they were very sensitive toward the whales and we were rewarded with a fantastic show as a result. Lots of breeching and rolling! The staff was very knowledgable and did an excellent job explaining everything. They also included the kids in various educational activities. Everyone truly enjoyed the outing.
