We are pretty confident that this 8-mile stretch of whitewater has the highest concentration of laughter in the state of Wyoming. With class II and III rapids such as The Lunch counter and The Big Kahuna, and even an underwater waterfall aptly named Champagne, this river will thrill and delight you. And with inspiring limestone cliffs, hills of Lodge pole Pine, and the mountain peak horizon of the Grey’s National Forest, the scenery will surely impress you. This is the moment in your vacation that you’ll write home to grandma about—that is, if she’s not already in the boat with you!

If you’re looking for an affordable and exciting trip on the water, Dave Hansen’s Whitewater is the outfit for you. Family friendly. A helpful staff at the shop in Jackson gets all of your pre-trip requirements out of the way quickly and easily. Your actual time on the water is assisted by local tour guides who not only know the river but also the local history, geology, and wildlife of the area. They’re skilled, funny, informative, and sociable. The Snake River is the perfect place for people who have never been whitewater rafting before, and DHW delivers an exciting and well prepared experience for all ages and skill levels. As with any whitewater experience, daily water flow largely determines how exciting or relaxing the trip may be. The nice thing about the Snake is that different rapid features are more intense at high flow rates while others are more intense at lower flow rates. Lots of fun the whole season! Talk to the helpful staff at DHW to learn the flow rate around the time you want to go and to determine what the best timing will be for the experience you’re looking for. For this adventure, they transport you to the launching point (right by the river’s edge), and they pick you up at the end of your 8+ mile journey (note that there is a short hike up a trail to the parking lot at the end... ~300 ft in length and ~40 ft in elevation gain). This portion of the Snake has Class III rapids. Learn the different classification levels to better understand what to expect from the rapids. In short: it would be very hard to dump people out of the boat unless they weren’t paying attention and/or didn’t have an experienced guide (the latter not possible with DHW).

We have used this Company one time before two years ago and are happy we chose them again. The guide was knowledgeable and had that knack for keeping the raft right in the slot of the best ride. Beautiful scenery and a fun whitewater thrill. We even had one member unable to make it at the last minute due to having to quarantine and they were exceptionally accommodating. I'll use them again.

What a Great time we had on our whitewater rafting trip! Jordan, our guide, was Awesome as he talked about the river, the history, some science, and even old river lore. He truly made it an Amazing ride, and made sure all of us got to share the “refreshing” Snake river water experience Lol. Will definitely be booking another trip soon!!
