I stumbled upon Dave Hansen Whitewater while looking at YouTube videos of things to do in Jackson, WY. We were planning our road trip to Yellowstone and needed a stop on the way home to break up the drive. I saw a bunch of videos on Whitewater Rafting and jumped on TripAdvisor and from the reviews I booked our first ever Whitewater trip! We arrived the prescribed 45 minutes early to complete paperwork (done online before we got there) and rented water shoes and wet suit jackets. We loaded onto the bus for the half hour drive to our Snake River entry point. The drive into Bridger-Teton National Forest was nice and with all the bus windows down the breeze was a relief from the heat. One of the guides got onto the bus and went over the safety rules and then divided us into groups. Our guide was Vlad! VLAD ROCKS! Vlad quickly loaded the 8 of us onto the raft and off we went! Vlad is awesome! He pointed out 5 bald eagles on our way down the Snake River and gave us a lot of details on how to see bears, otters, and beavers. Vlad has a lot of knowledge on the Snake River. We went through several class one and class two rapids. We even “surfed” one of the rapids by paddling upstream into the rapids and got soaked! I bet I drank half the Snake River that day! Our entire boat got to join the Dave Hansen Snake River swim team by jumping into the 65 degree water (thank you wet suit jacket). I simply grabbed the rope and got towed along the river for a while. LOVED IT! We also learned how to pull our boat mates back onto the boat! We “surfed” another rapid and I’ve got to say I didn’t see any of the other boats do this. You will get soaked! OH! And ask to ride the front of the boat through the rapids too! Several rapids later and sadly our white-water rafting experience ended. Vlad is simply amazing, and you MUST asked to be in his boat! Hands down an amazing experience and a definite must do in Jackson, WY!

Our trip was excellent! Vlad was so knowledgeable and personable. He was very instructive and made us all feel excited for a challenge. The rapids we passed through were awesome and a little scary, and getting wet was half the fun. We have been on several rafting trips, but this one was the absolute smoothest in organization and execution. Simply superb.
