There are hurdles to overcome like having to book in on previous days to go to Top of the Rock which, when not staying in Manhatten, is not easy. Turning up at Natural History Museum later in day of a busy schedule to find there are no Planetarium shows free that afternoon and apparently no way of booking in advance. So, some good things to see on the City Pass but not quite as simple as it sounds on the glossy advertising.
Most of the tour guides were friendly and very knowledgable about the city. I did find a couple of them to be a little heavy handed when it came to asking for tips.
I bought this pass on a "special" offer at about $100 and, at this price, it is a very good deal for an active visitor (or resident) who intends to visit many attractions in a short time. The 9 days of validity are just about right. The possibility to pick up at any one of the attractions is a very smart move that simplifies everyone's life. The purchase discounts at stores should be more prominently advertised; I missed using mine at Cloisters.
Highly recommended
