CiyPass enables you to see (at a discount) all the touristy things you have on your list. You don't have to use all the tickets in one day so the entertainment can last for your whole visit to the big Apple.

Disappointing to find out that a number of the attractions we visited had no CityPass fast track and that the queues were awful and quite possibly made worse by people buying the pass! CityPass NY does a poor job in my opinion of being specific/upfront about which attractions do and don't have fast track. They state 'most' and 'many' do on their promotional material but I think that is misleading. There was fastrack at the 9/11 Museum; not at American Museum of Natural History or Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building. You queue twice at The Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island - once to get a ticket and once to get in line for the boats. The first time we tried to use the pass there was a two hour wait for the ferry, this is after you got your ticket. We went to catch the first sailing another day and still had to wait 15 minutes to get our ticket. (We realised later we could have done the two steps separately but that may not work geographically/logistically.) When we returned from Ellis Island the queue for the ferry was three hours long. We couldn't use one of our six tickets as we ran out of time and our visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art was pushed to the end of the day and too short in consequence because of time wasted queuing elsewhere and fear of being in another queue there as it was showing as busy online. Also the selection of attractions didn't really make sense for us geographically. On reflection we would have been better going to a few of the biggies and then infilling with smaller/quirkier museums and attractions etc that were close by. There's so much that's fab to see and do in NY and it's huge. I wonder if these passes push too many people to see the same attractions and thereby create or exacerbate the queues meaning everyone using the pass has a compromised experience, perversely. Basically, I think it's worth seriously weighing up, is your precious vacation time worth any savings from a pass like this; are their choices really the best ones for you; are there better types of tickets available for you through the attractions? We could have bought a ticket online for the American Museum of Natural History that would have saved us a 30+ minute wait. At the 9/11 Museum we could have got a guided tour booking independently. Apparently, at the Rockefeller Centre buying independently you automatically get a timed slot instead of having to show up with your CityPass to arrange a timed slot later.
