The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

The ride from Scottsdale was a long one BUT well worth it. The tour guide was very informative and well versed not only on the Canyon, but also much of the surrounding area. Our small group had plenty of time to see q lot of the Southern Rim. We also lucked out with the weather temp being slightly cooler than usual this time of the year.

Sam was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and a great tour guide. We definitely feel that driving around for over an hour to pick up and drop off other participants was excessive! We were the first to be picked up and the last to be dropped off and still had to drive and leave a car to meet the tour. Then we had to drive all over phoenix to get the rest of the attendees. We suggest one or two meeting points because that would have saved us a couple of hours. It was over a 15 hour day for us when it was advertised as a 13 hour day. Sam made up for it and made it worthwhile though we were a bit annoyed that we had to drive all around town. At the very least, the first picked up should have at least been the first dropped off or we should have been given another option where to be picked up. Overall, would recommend but would try to get better clarification about timing for pick ups and total tour time next time. Another suggestion would be to have one point to meet with an Uber option planned and scheduled by the tour and guaranteed.for an additional fee. It seems we ended up with the worst of all options!
