After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

I had to change my pick up address and contact number and on both occasions, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The actual tour was a great experience and our tour guide, Jon, made it that much more spectacular. Jon kept the ride to the canyon fun and full of interesting information. He was able to give good advice about where to go and what to do at each stop and showed genuine concern for our safety when going over what not to do at the canyon. Also, the book he suggests, "Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon" is extremely captivating.

Les was our guide and he was very knowledgeable about the Grand Canyon and Arizona. Our drive was from Scottsdale and Les kept us entertained the entire trip. We were picked up in the front of our resort. Twelve hours start to finish. Ten tourists filled the shuttle bus. Bottled water was provided. We stopped in the town of Williams on the way to pick up boxed lunches (that you can order ahead) and we had time to visit the shops. Another stop was made on the way to fill up. We made three stops in the park on the south end. We had time to see the sites and Les provided a lot of details. We made a couple of stops on the way home.

I had been to the canyon several years before, North Rim. This trip was five hours if not more to get there. We were at the S. Rim approximately a little under 3 hours. The Canyon is spectacular of course however because I was Phoenix visiting my son I wanted him to experience the canyon with more time. The guide/driver was consistently managing our time and we felt rushed. I realize she has a job to do and is on a time schedule so it’s not her fault. I would never choose this company again. Another five hours back to Phoenix . So doing the math, that’s 10 hours of driving and 3 hours of the Canyon. Not worth $179. I should have listened to my son and done it on our own. Yes it’s a lot of driving but we would have been comfortable and could have done whatever we wanted for as long as we wanted. I have been on numerous tour and every guide had fun games to play on the bus, information on our surrounding areas etc. not with Jennifer. She was always willing to chat if I approached her but wasn’t as friendly and interactive as all the other tour guides. I’ve been to Europe, S. America and various other countries with guides. This one was not worth the money. It was more for my son then for myself (it was his birthday #30) and I wanted to do something nice for him. So fast forward, my review is my honest opinion.
