The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

Our tour guide/driver, Jennifer was amazing! Safely and quickly got us there, around and back. Very knowledgeable, organized, decisive, responsive and nice. Weather was perfect, got to spend lots of time at the Canyon due to Jennifer’s directions and expertise. Highly recommend Detours tour and Jennifer.

I was planning a day trip to the Grand Canyon from Scottsdale for my entire family on a trip over Easter. These guys were a piece of cake to work with, flexible, worked with us to make everyone as comfortable as possible and made it easy to book. I have never been to the area before and found it incredibly helpful when the owner of the company sort of talked me through the options personally, helped us develop an itinerary that worked for us and even worked to figure out which guide would work best for our group. He eventually set us up with Montana who not only was an excellent guide but also was entertaining and based on traffic etc... even helped us shift around our agenda on the fly to make everything work better. We ended up driving from Scottsdale, through Sedona with stops at the Chapel of the holy Cross (which I had no idea even existed!) a few beautiful rock formations and some time to shop and walk in downtown Sedona. We then drove the rest of the way to the Canyon and he gave us a few options of how to enjoy our time there. (He offered to shuttle us between a few points or drop us off at a walking path that just gives you a great sense of the spectacle that is the canyon. We opted for the walking path, got a great experience and some amazing photos along the way, meeting him for pick-up at the hotel / lodge at the south rim. Because Montana was able to help us adjust the schedule to make everything work we were even able to make a pit stop at a classic route 66 town on the way back to grab some pizza's to take in the shuttle and try some beers form a local brewery and check out the local stores. It was a nice addition / pit stop as one of the members of our group is big into cars and had really wanted to be able to see some of the history or route 66. So not only were they easy to book, informative and accommodating -- they managed to deliver more than promised. I cannot recommend these guys enough, and Montana specifically, enough! They took excellent care of all of us and I am sure they will you as well! Pro-tip -- bring some Dramamine if you get motion sick -- some of those mountain roads are rough if you are prone to that sort of thing!

As part of our automobile travel tour, we wanted to tour the Grand Canyon. My wife decided that an experienced guide tour guide would be best. Detours of Arizona guide "Jennifer" was exceptional and did an outstanding job (native Arizonan). We viewed and learned a great deal on our full day tour. Highly recommended in all phases.
