The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

Booking trip was super easy. Our day trip was fantastic. Our driver was terrific and personable. The scenery was stunning and we had ample time to see and do what we wanted. The lunch they provided was tasty and we had our lunch overlooking the Grand Canyon.

We had booked a tour 2 years ago in Vegas from another company and they didn’t pick us up. This company was always prompt. Our driver Bob was an excellent and safe driver as well as entertaining and knowledgeable. A perfect 39 th Anniversary!!!!

I had an extra day in the Phoenix area and opted to take this daytrip to the Grand Canyon. DETOURS picked me up right from my hotel, and tour guide Andy was well-spirited and informative during the entire trip, continuously offering the group water to avoid dehydration. Bus was air conditioned and comfortable. Whole trip lasted from about 7AM to 8PM, with 4ish hours at the Canyon itself. Lunch is included in the trip fee. Groups looking for some significant hiking time should opt for a longer trip, but this trip gave plenty of time to view the Canyon, relax, and tour the shops. Would highly recommend this one if anyone is staying in Phoenix-Scottsdale area and looking for a quick getaway.
