After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

I am SO happy that I have chosen to tour The Grand Canyon with DETOURS. John was very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable... just an overall fantastic tour guide. This was my first visit to The Grand Canyon and with this tour, it was quite a fulfilling experience! I did the full day tour with the shuttle pickup. We had a small group, which was very nice. Everyone in the group was from all over the US. We had a scenic drive, stopped when necessary for breaks, able to shop and experience the culture, and we spent nearly 3 hours with breathtaking views of The Grand Canyon. You have to see it in person! I just thank them so much for being such an awesome tour company, and I look forward to doing more tours with them in the future. Worth every penny? ABSOLUTELY.

Amazing trip. Left from Phoenix, tour picked me up from my resort on time and in a comfortable van. My tour guide Andy was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would 100% recommend for someone out of state or a local who has never been.

We booked this trip last minute, less than 24 hours in advance. We had an early pick up at a nearby hotel. We ran into a problem shortly before pickup and we're going to run late. I called Detours and they were understanding and willing to wait for us. We ended up being on time after all but knowing that they were willing to wait was great. Our tour guide was Michael and he was wonderful. He did a great job of keeping up a conversation and engaging the group during the drive there. It was not a boring drive and he keep it entertaining and informative. We made a few stops along the way so we could stretch our legs which was nice. Lunch was included and he gave it to us at our last stop so we could eat in the van if we wanted, take way we had more time to walk around the canyon. Once at the canyon we had the option to walk the trail or have him drive from point to point if you are disabled. If you are able to walk the trail I suggest it as you have a great view for the 1.5 mile walk. It is on a sidewalk and they were wide enough for a wheelchair. The walk is flat and easy, not a hike at all. You can take pictures the entire way. At the end of the walk there are gift shops and places to eat if you are hungry. Michael picked us up after being at the canyon for 2.5 hours. The trip back was fine. We listened to music and just relaxed as we made it back into town. I would recommend the trip and I especially recommend going on the trip with Michael as your guide.
