The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. We had a fantastic day on the Grand Canyon all day tour with the very knowledgeable tour guide Dan! This was his 1871 trip taking a group on this tour, so you could say he know his stuff. He kept of well informed about the culture and life in Arizona on route and had plenty of stops to view the beauty in the area. Time at the Grand Cayon he brought along a telescope put into perspective the vastness of this amazing site! We had plenty of time to take pictures and sit on the rocking chairs in front of the Le Tovar have a drink and watch the Elk stroll the property! Fantastic day, thank You Dan and Detours!

Visiting the Grand Canyon and Sedona on this one day trip was amazing. The beautiful views and history was seemingly endless. Our tour guide, Dan, was very knowledgeable and funny. We would recommend this trip to anyone visiting the Phoenix area.

Be prepared for a long yet exciting day. 14 hrs in a very comfortable van with a great driver. David the guide was was very knowledgeable about Phoenix and the surrounding desert area. He made the trip very enjoyable with his commentary as he drove. We were able to get out and explore Sedona as well as viewpoints of the Grand Canyon. I would suggest that you try to schedule your lunch stop a bit earlier, at the first Grand Canyon viewpoint. We did not stop for lunch till about 3 pm at the last viewpoint, in the Grand Canyon village, which was quite late.
