Went to museum with my husband and daughter and her boyfriend.. the museum was wayyyy too crowded. If you are going to bother with timed tickets shouldn’t that help limit how many people were there at one time. We could not even see the Edward Hopper painting because there were so many people crowded i front of each painting. The wait for elevators was way too long and then they were packed. I love this museum but this is not the way I find pleasant to view art

Museum was smaller than expected but we did enjoy what we saw. Wonderful views from the rooftop too. And, we discovered Little Island and the High Line because of our time there!

Maybe my expectations were too high based on all the five-star reviews, but I was disappointed in the Whitney. This museum has 8 floors. There is a large café and gift shop on the first floor. We started at the top and worked our way down. Floors 8 and 7 are filled with a lot of pieces by American artists, as well as outdoor sculptures. Those two floors were enjoyable. It took us about 45 minutes to wander around. I don’t even remember what was on the sixth floor. Perhaps a few scattered photos, but they were not memorable to me. The fifth floor wasn’t open; there isn’t a fourth floor to view; the third floor was more contemporary art installations, and frankly, a little weird for our taste and we spent about ten minutes. There is no art to view on the second floor. We had planned to spend two hours or more, but were done in about an hour. We might have spent more time, except they were between special exhibitions, so an entire floor was not open. I think it is a little over-priced and the gift shop is definitely overpriced.
