Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. Amelia Island

The eight flags tour takes you on a historical journey through all of the locations that those flags have flown over the islands incredible history. The only location in America to have had this number of independent flags. You will travel through the historic downtown district and out to the original Fernandina. On our journey we will cover each of the flags, the period from which they flew and the historical significance behind all of those dates from a historical perspective.

In all the touring we have done, we have never had a guide with the knowledge of an area as Daniel Daly of Historic Tours. Daniel has a contagious passion for Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. We highly recommend this tour and wish it was more then the 90 minutes!!

The history is amazing and the people are accommodating and friendly. We are spoilt with the best bars and restaurants to be found anywhere. What more more could you desire. Wonderful tour. Lot’s of history and humor. Great guide. We learned a great deal about Amelia Island and it’s fascinating history. We were sorry it ended.

Daniel is a well researched guide who taught us and showed us so much amazing history about this area that ties into the founding of and history of the U.S. Well worth it!

The island has a truly incredible history. The only place in America to have flown eight independent flags and significant to Florida becoming a territory so early very early on, due to the tenacity of one particular soldier. Thank you for your 5 star review, it is very much appreciated.
