After seeing the Hermann-Grima house on a previous visit to New Orleans, we took a tour of the Gallier house this time. Both tours focus on different historical aspects of New Orleans' society and culture and we can definitely recommend both! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and delivered information in an engaging way that didn't shy away from humour now and then. She talked not only about the family, the house and the objects found in it, but also about mourning customs as well as some quirky fun facts. The tour is well-paced and by the time we stepped outside again an hour later, we felt like we had learned and seen a good deal. Definitely recommended if you want to find out more about what's hidden behind some of the French Quarter façades!

We had a great time, and our guide was knowledgeable and fun. Well worth the price of admission. We plan on visiting their sister property the next time we are in New Orleans.

This tour is a great way to see a historic New Orleans townhome furnished with period furnishings. It was interesting to learn about the design of the house by James Gallier Jr. Our guide (Robert?) shared so many great details and also shared information about the experience of enslaved people who were forced to serve in the home. This is a must-see for anyone visiting the French Quarter. I've been on two tours and learned different things on each tour.
