Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

We had an amazing experience. By far the highlight of our trip. We saw multiple whales jumping out of water, sea lions, sea otters and even a bear. I cannot say enough good things about this tour. Would recommend to anyone traveling to Icy Point.

Heard mixed reviews about the larger group tours and was so happy to find Hoonah Whale Tours. Was able to see orcas, humpbacks, otters, sea lions. Great experience overall!

My wife and I arrived in Icy Strait Point aboard the Celebrity Millennium. I wanted to go whale watching on a small, intimate boat and Jordan provides the perfect vessel. His boat only takes six passengers and my wife and I were the only two who booked for that day. Talk about a private tour. Jordan met us in his van as we exited the ship and drove us the short distance to his boat. His wife baked fresh muffins and provided hot chocolate and coffee. We were on the water for quite a while and the weather wasn’t cooperating. Just when it seemed like we weren’t going to see any whales on this day, Jordan was able to locate three humpbacks swimming together. One was a relatively young calf, so that made the experience all the more special. We were able to spend ample time watching and photographing the whales. Jordan even offered to stay out longer than the allotted time, but unfortunately our ship had a very short time in port and we had to get back on board. Do yourself a favor and book with Hoonah Whale Tours when in Icy Strait Point. Avoid the larger more commercial tour boats.
