We booked both a manta ray night snorkel as well as the dolphin swim with Coral Reef Adventures.... we were so happy we went with them for both tours! Our main reason for choosing them (other than good reviews here) was the small group size - they only take a max of 6 passengers on the tours. We did the manta ray snorkel Sunday night which both my husband and I said was the most incredible thing we have ever seen. Kira was our guide and Ron was our captain for both trips and both were very friendly, helpful and personable with lots of great information on the area and sea life to share. The manta ray snorkel is a fairly no brainer snorkeling trip - you put on wet suits and your snorkel gear, and Kira leads you out to where the rays are and you just relax and enjoy the show! We had at least 10 rays (I think!) hanging out with us that night. The water does get crowded from other boats, but Kira did a good job of trying to keep us untangled. We did the dolphin swim the next morning and we were super lucky because we were the only ones who had booked a trip that day so it was just my husband and I... we were happy they were still willing to take just the two of us out! We saw TONS of dolphins (including babies!) and were in and out of the water a number of times as we followed the pod swimming.... so cool to hear these amazing creatures underwater and then have them swim around you. This trip definitely had a lot of swimming and on/off the boat time but was an incredible experience. Highly highly recommend doing these tours and going with Coral Reef Snorkel Adventures is a must!

We booked a night manta snorkel with Coral Reef Snorkel Adventures having read a few reviews but nearly cancelled before hand, thinking we might go with another, bigger, cruise. We have two children, aged 8 and 9, and thought they might be better off with a larger boat, and we'd booked an 8.30pm cruise and thought this might be a little too late. I am so glad we decided to stick with Coral Reef. We were met by Captain Jack and Kirra who immediately set us at ease. We were the only passengers and had just the right amount of chat, and just the right amount of quiet - we really felt welcomed and valued. When we got to the site, it was indescribable. We were the only boat there to start with and there was a moment when we thought the mantas might have all gone but after about 30 seconds, a manta appeared, then another and another... we ended up with around 10-12 individual mantas, some over 4m in width, dancing around us for nearly an hour. I cannot even begin to describe the feelings of serenity and awe. Beautiful. More importantly, though, my younger daughter was a little freaked out by how large the rays were and Kirra helped her to settle, affirmed her decision to get out of the water and then sat with her, talking about the rays and what could be seen from the boat. Both she and Captain Jack made her feel like her choice was absolutely fine and still allowed her to have an amazing, educational and beautiful experience. Worth every cent.

We decided to do the night snorkeling with Manta Rays off Kona when everyone we spoke said it was "the best thing to do". We chose Coral Reef Snorkel Adventures becasue they had a smaller baot and the ratio of six passengers to a skipper and a guide seemed to be a plus. How right we were. Our smaller number compared to other boats out that night meant that we got personalised attention in getting ready and got into the water more quickly and then were able to manoeuver around in the water to get the best position. The big numbered groups seemed to have to stay in one spot. While the crew insisted that there would be no guarantees we would encounter rays, we lucked out and there were about 20 rays in the area, feeding and putting on a show for us. This was a very professionally run excusion and, while at the "outer edge" of what we would thought we would be able do, it was by far the highlight of our trip and now we are boring everyone at home talking about it.
