What a fantastic afternoon we had. Upon arrival, we were outfited with warmer clothes to go on top of our existing winter clothes. We had a short lesson and then met our sled dog team. Actual Iditarod champion dogs were apart of our five dog team. My husband mushed first, and I sat on the seat. What a feeling! The dogs are so powerful and fast. We traveled through a winter wonderland of plowed trails.
After two miles, we switched riders. At first, I was scared and hesitant, but as soon as I mushed, it felt really easy and manageable. I loved every minute.
It did feel a little short, but it's also really cold, so it probably makes sense about their time limit.
Afterwards, we got to practice taking off the harness and put the dogs into their "kennels." Then, we got to run around with five 3 month old puppies! You can't get much cuter than that.... until, we got to hold one week old puppies!
The handlers were amazing! They answered so many questions and shared lots of stories. All were gracious and kind.
I'd definitely recommend this tour!
